Roasted in Portland · Shipped within 48 hours
Small-batch roasting from direct-trade farms, brewed into something worth slowing down for. Taste the difference 48-hour-fresh coffee makes.
We buy straight from family farms and pay well above fair-trade prices.
Every roast is cupped and logged by hand before it earns a bag.
Your beans leave the roastery at peak freshness, never from a warehouse shelf.
Our Story
Ember & Oak began in 2016 with a secondhand 2 kg drum roaster in a garage on SE Alder Street and a stubborn idea: coffee tastes best when the people who roast it know the people who grew it.
Today we roast on a 12 kg Loring, visit our partner farms every harvest, and still cup every single batch before it ships. The garage is gone — the stubbornness stayed.

“The Ember Dark Roast ruined every other coffee for me. You can taste the difference that fresh roasting makes — it arrives still fragrant from the drum.”

“The Saturday cupping session was the best hour I spent in Portland. They teach you to taste without ever making you feel like a beginner.”
